The Hush of Fall   Acrylic    16 x 20

Wide Bronze and Gold Trimmed Frame  500.00

I painted this using an earth palatte .   I was introduced to this palatte by Jerry Thomas a good friend,  incredibly  accomplished artist, instructor and  restoration expert.     I have  taken work shops and classes with many wonderful artists  and have gained so much from them.  I especially enjoy working with Jerry.  This palatte suits the fall,  my favorite season.  Fall to me, is a mellow time of year,  a season filled with wonderful scents and warm rich colors.  I think I captured the essence of “my fall” in this painting.   The Hush of Fall is the painting I  donated this year  to the Spring ArtWalk.  This is the  third year I am a  participant in this event.  I have more information on the Spring ArtWalk  below in my News and Notes section which I  periodically update.

I am gathering the work I have created for  our Art For Your Spaces show  in April which will be held at the gallery on the main exhibit wall.   Sea Oats will be part of this show  as well as Utah which is on the  postcard.  I will have some smaller pieces that can be grouped together for a wall arrangement as well as larger  pieces and some in between.    This show  will be an  exciting show to see .   Our  Art For Your Spaces Exhibit offers three artist with their individual styles and mediums and it is always  a must see for those who know our work.   The reception is on the 4th of April from 1 to 4 at Framations on North Main and will run till May  3rd..  If you are new to our work do stop by.  You won’t be disapointed.

The gallery will be quite the “hot spot” the month of April.  For the fourth year the St. Charles Riverfront Arts will sponser  the  Spring ArtWalk and it will be held April 24th, 25th, and 26th in St. Charles.   There is a Patron Preference event that many now look forward to, which allows participants,  for the purchase price of a ticket, to attend a drawing  for one piece of original art  valued at 250 plus.  The artists,  who donate their original art whether it be a  painting, jewelry, photography,  etc. must be juried in to participate in the event  and will be stationed in various shops for you to visit.   While the Spring ArtWalk is in progress  you may even see some of the artists working.     The actual drawing  is held on Sunday the last day of the ArtWalk,  at the gallery.   At that time,  all the  artists donations including  the donations from the  three Art For Your Spaces artists,  will be hung together for the drawing.   Whether you wish to purchase a ticket for the Patron Preference or just want something fun to do that week end,  come visit St. Charles  and while you are there,  stop by Framations  and come say hi.

I Wish, I Wish, I Wish

I-Wish-I-Wish-I-Wish-a-triptik

I Wish, I Wish,  I Wish   Acrylic

I did this one day dreaming of far away places and warm sea breezes.  Aren’t there times when you just wished that you were miles away?   Life was hectic, I had schedules to meet,  places to go, people to see.   You know how that goes.   This turned out to be a sweet piece that I love.   I realize I say that I love a number of my pieces,  but it’s true.   If I didn’t  feel good about what I did,  if the image wasn’t  right, or it didn’t  feel right,  I  gesso over it.  Gesso is a thick white  substance  that an artist uses on  canvas, a board, even on watercolor paper,  which covers the existing painting so that  the artist can start fresh.   I painted this with three small canvas boards  lined up in a row.  And just “went for it”.   They are mounted on a  pinkish mat board with about a 1 1/2 inch of mat board showing at the top and bottom  and  a narrow  margin in between the canvases (that is what that pinkish strip is),  with plexiglass over all and framed with a  slim round green frame.    I think it is fun and funky.   I hope it makes you smile.
